The national award celebrates higher education institutions that demonstrate exceptional impact on student experience, professional development and employability through their partnership with CMI. Teesside University’s nomination highlights the strength of its long standing collaboration with the professional body and its success in embedding CMI professional standards across leadership and management programmes.
The University’s CMI accredited provision enables learners to achieve dual recognition, combining an academic qualification with professional status such as Chartered Manager, significantly enhancing graduate employability and career progression. Students also benefit from access to CMI resources including leadership diagnostics, webinars and career development tools, supporting reflective practice and real world application of learning.
Outstanding outcomes underpin the nomination, including a 92% distinction rate on the Senior Leader Apprenticeship in Healthcare and a 100% End Point Assessment pass rate. Many graduates progress into senior roles across sectors including healthcare, finance and the creative industries, while employers report measurable improvements in leadership capability and organisational performance.
This accolade reflects Teesside University’s hard work, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence in leadership and management education.
The University’s partnership with CMI was also recognised during a recent Ofsted inspection, where Teesside University was rated Outstanding in all areas for its apprenticeship provision. Inspectors praised the “transformative” impact of apprenticeships and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships with professional bodies in meeting skills needs.
The winners of the CMI Awards of Excellence 2025 will be announced at the President’s Dinner and Awards Ceremony on 23 April 2026, celebrating leadership excellence across education, industry and the wider management community.
