Discussions at the campus at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, included the impacts of reforms to national policy, including the introduction of the Growth & Skills Levy and how training providers can best support employers and apprentices.

The round table also looked at how the various attendees can work together on more apprenticeship opportunities for the people of Hackney.

Teesside University is one of the UK’s leading provers of professional apprenticeships and was recently graded Outstanding by Ofsted for its apprenticeship provision.

Matt Kirk, Apprenticeship Senior Development and Partnerships Lead at Teesside University, said: ‘This event is such an important catalyst for the local economy because it brings together organisations who genuinely want to drive growth, create opportunities, and build a stronger skills pipeline for the community.

‘Events like this give employers the space to explore shared challenges and unlock practical solutions—especially around workforce development.

‘That’s exactly where Teesside University’s Professional Apprenticeships provision can add real value.

‘We help organisations make the most of their levy funding by aligning high quality apprenticeship pathways to their strategic priorities, ensuring they can upskill their staff, attract new talent, and ultimately strengthen the region’s economic resilience.’
