Positive endorsement for Teesside University from overseas students

International students have praised Teesside University and highlighted their positive experiences in a major independent global survey.

The International Student Barometer (ISB), which gathers feedback from international students across the world in a wide range of areas, has recorded high levels of satisfaction among overseas students studying at Teesside University.

There was high praise for the virtual onboarding provided during student orientation, along with support provided on campus by the University wardens, with both receiving a 100% satisfaction rate from the international students.

Areas including teaching, language support, learning spaces, counselling support, campus buildings, safety on campus, IT support and internet access on campus all received satisfaction rates above 95%, with many other areas scoring above 90%, including employability, social facilities and intercultural engagement.

A total of 718 international students from Teesside University completed the ISB 2025, which received 95,734 global participants and 30,247 UK participants.

Professor Chrisina Jayne, Teesside University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Partnerships), said: “It is incredibly rewarding to see such excellent feedback from our international students. Their endorsement is a positive reflection of the continued efforts across the University to ensure we deliver the best student and learning experience for all who study with us.

“We remain committed to investing in our campus and our learning experience to ensure Teesside remains a welcoming choice for students who choose to study with us from across the world.”

Teesside University positions itself as an international university with a global network of partnerships, attracting students and staff from across the world.

The University was recently awarded 5 Stars in the internationally recognised QS Stars rating which highlights best practice in higher education.

The QS Stars rating system, seen as a global benchmark of excellence, evaluates institutions across a range of performance indicators including teaching quality, facilities, research and global engagement. Teesside received 5-Stars across the categories of Global Engagement, Environmental Impact, Good Governance, Employability, Diversity, Teaching, Facilities, and Equity and Inclusion.

This latest accolade adds to a growing list of the University’s awards and achievements in recognition of its commitment to student success, innovation in teaching, and delivering an exceptional educational experience.

Teesside University was named University of the Year 2025 by Times Higher Education, along with Modern University of the Year 2026 in the Daily Mail University Guide.

In addition, the University achieved Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023, highlighting outstanding student outcomes and teaching quality.
