The vision for the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) is to carry out world-leading research that makes a significant impact on people's lives and wellbeing. Our mission is to undertake interdisciplinary research to develop new interventions, tools and therapies for health and social care. We work collaboratively with end-users, industrial and practice partners to help adopt healthcare technologies, improve quality of life and create economic growth.
Healthcare Innovation Centre draws on existing strengths at Teesside University and TWI to create a centre of excellence in healthcare technologies.
These areas are underpinned by key capabilities in advanced materials, disruptive sensing systems, advanced manufacturing, medical devices, photonics and ICT.
The Tees Healthcare Innovation Partnership (T-HIP) is a new collaboration between Teesside University and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is linked to the Healthcare Innovation Centre based in Cambridge and Teesside with TWI Ltd.
