Colleague spotlight

Eve Goodison

Hi, my name is Eve Goodison, and I'm an Employee Engagement Adviser (Human Resources) at Teesside University.

I'm responsible for a range of things including colleague rewards and benefits, Pulse Surveys, Investors in People (IiP) and initial policies.

I also assist Occupational Health with our health and wellbeing activities.

I achieved a first-class honours degree in Business and Management and recently bought my first home and renovated it within 3 months. Both were a challenge but worth it in the end!

How would you describe your job?

My job is varied and exciting, especially the rewards and benefits activities.

I think providing excellent rewards and benefits to support colleagues is an important aspect when it comes to recruitment and retention.

I am a people person and thoroughly enjoy working with different schools and departments, and other teams on various projects. It can be so rewarding when a project or task that you have been working on for so long comes together.

How long have you worked at the University?

I've worked at the University for almost two years.

What's the best thing about working at Teesside University?

The best thing about working at Teesside University is the people. Since I began at the University, I've found that everyone is so friendly, supportive, and patient - which is a bonus when you are finding your feet in higher education.

How would you describe Teesside University to others?

The University is an enjoyable place to work and there is always something going on that you can get involved in or help contribute towards.

There is also a true sense of a #TeamTeesside culture where everyone works together and supports one another.

The many diverse individuals, different career opportunities, on campus facilities, colleague benefits, and work/life balance all contribute to making Teesside University a great workplace.

What achievement are you most proud of?

I have two - achieving a first-class honours degree in Business and Management and recently buying my first home and renovating it within 3 months. Both were a challenge but worth it in the end!
