Explore the key processes involved in working with us to support and develop your apprentices, ensuring a smooth and effective partnership.
We expect all our apprentices to maintain a high level of attendance, with the university's minimum requirement set at 80%. Each apprenticeship has its own bespoke delivery model and pattern, which your apprentice will be informed about when they are issued with their course handbook.
It is important that the university is informed of any planned absences as soon as possible. If for any reason the apprentice cannot attend a taught session, they must inform the school and any missed learning must be replanned and undertaken at the soonest opportunity.
If your apprentice is going to be absent from work, they must follow your company absence reporting policy, as normal.
If an apprentice is going to be absent from their learning for 4 weeks or more, under Skills England rules, we must put the apprentice on a ‘break in learning' (interrupting their studies for an agreed period of time).
If attendance levels are not satisfactory, in line with expectations, the university will follow the Engagement and Attendance Policy to address this. Any issues or concerns with attendance will be disclosed and discussed with you as the employer.

Apprentices will follow the university's assessment regulations, which will be given to them at the start of their apprenticeship. During induction, your apprentice will be given their timetable, including submission dates for assessments.
We are committed to providing high-quality education and services, and employers of professional apprentices play a vital role in enabling us to deliver outstanding apprenticeships. If you ever feel dissatisfied with the service provided, you are entitled to make your concerns known and, if this does not resolve the matter, pursue a complaint.
Complaints policy and procedure
All apprentices will follow the university's online teaching and engagement policy. This policy outlines specific guidance on online learning, including the expected standards of behaviour for all apprentices studying for their qualification online. Additionally, students are expected to follow any rules or guidelines the University may introduce regarding online conduct and internet use.
