Bridges & Routes graduates

The University of Teesside’s Bridges and Routes project enables graduates from the region to take part in work experience with local Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). On Tuesday 15 March 2005, the three finalists will be presented with prizes for the "Most Enterprising Bridges and Routes Graduates".

Gavin Stock, 22, from Redcar, achieved a First Class degree in BEng (Hons) Computer Engineering & Microelectrics from the University of Teesside. He will receive the first place prize for his work at 4C Electronics Ltd in Stockton. While there Gavin excelled at the various responsibilities of a junior hardware/software engineer.

Nirmala Krishnaraj, 39, from Middlesbrough, graduated with a BSc (Hons) Computer Studies degree from the University of Teesside and has earned the second prize for her website creativity at ICT City in Middlesbrough.

Joanne Nassor, 24, from Newcastle, BA (Hons) Media Production (University of Northumbria) will receive the third place prize in recognition of her work at Ipso Facto Films at Newcastle where she worked as a production assistant.

The prizes will be presented by John Wright - National Vice Chairman Of The Federation Of Small Businesses.

Faye Thomson, Project Manager, said: “Thanks to finance from the European Social Fund, the Bridges and Routes project provides graduates with important paid work experience, giving them the chance to put the skills learned at University into practice. It’s also great for local firms who can make the most of knowledgeable and enthusiastic graduates at a reduced cost.”
