Julie’s penchant for shoes came under the spotlight recently during a day of fund-raising for Comic Relief organised by LRC staff, which included sponsored Karaoke, juggling and guessing the total of Julie’s vast shoe collection. The day raised £205.
Julie, from Middlesbrough, said: “Only two staff members guessed the correct total. What they didn’t know was that I gave away twenty pairs to Oxfam before Comic Relief, so no-one would have guessed over 60!
“I’ve loved shoes since I was secondary school in Eston. Your shoe size doesn't change; it's the one constant in your life, so shopping for shoes is easy and fun. My favourites are a £25 pair of purple boots, as they're different and trendy”.
Colleague Joanne Naylor, also a Senior Information Assistant in the LRC added: “Julie’s not known as the Imelda Marcos of the Library for nothing! But she’s not completely obsessed, as she showed by giving some shoes to charity.”
