Latest information

Whilst it is no longer mandatory to remain at home or off campus, the university encourages people to voluntarily report their covid illness to studentwellbeing@tees.ac.uk. For staff who choose not to report it, it will just be recorded as a normal sickness absence

Please remain away from campus while you are unwell - just as you would with any other illness.

For staff who are unwell, they should not be working. If they are well enough to work they should work remotely until they recover.

Keeping you safe

Face coverings and vaccinations

You can now choose whether or not to wear a face-covering on campus. We expect all students and colleagues to respect the personal choices of other individuals who may prefer to continue to wear a face-covering.

We also encourage you to get vaccinated if you have not already done so as it is the best way to protect yourself, your friends and family, and our University community.

If you are registered with a GP, you can book your free appointment through the National Booking Service website, or by calling 119.

If you are not registered with a GP, you can still request to book your Covid-19 vaccination appointments as an unregistered patient through a local GP practice.

Events

There are no limits on the size of events or social gatherings, and there is no need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or test status as a condition of entry.

Please note we will continue to monitor the situation, and we may reintroduce measures such as the wearing of face-coverings if advised to do so by local public health teams in the future.

Testing and reporting

Testing

There is no requirement to take regular lateral flow tests before coming onto campus.

Lateral flow test kits are no longer supplied to universities, so we are unable to provide these to students and colleagues. Test kits are still available from community collection centres.

What to do if you test positive

From Thursday 24 February, you are no longer legally required to self-isolate if you receive a positive test result. Instead, you are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for five days.

Colleagues should follow this advice and inform their line managers of their sickness absence in the normal way.

Students who test positive for COVID-19 and are unable to attend on-campus teaching sessions, should inform Student Wellbeing.

Reporting Coronavirus symptoms

We continue to monitor Covid-19 across our University and staff and students are encouraged to report any Covid-19 cases so that we can support you both during your illness and in your recovery.

Students: should report any Covid-19 cases, or direct any questions, to studentwellbeing@tees.ac.uk

Staff: should report any Covid-19 cases to their line manager and a questionnaire should be completed to assist with monitoring. Where staff are able to work from home, they should still complete the questionnaire in conjunction with their line manager. Once complete, line managers should email the questionnaire to studentwellbeing@tees.ac.uk
