Join us at our post-registration open day event for Specialist Practice Qualification (SPQ) District Nursing

Are you considering a career as a District Nurse?

With the increasing focus on care at home, the role of the District Nurse is growing in significance and brings new challenges. At Teesside, we offer courses which lead to an academic award and the SPQ District Nursing, including the community practitioner prescriber qualification. These courses are available at degree level and postgraduate level, depending on your existing qualifications. These are full-time courses and span 44 weeks, commencing September 2020. We are also developing an apprenticeship route which would involve being an apprentice district nurse full-time and whilst in this apprentice role, undertaking a postgraduate diploma in district nursing which has the non-medical prescribing qualification embedded. This apprenticeship would be 19 months long. (Please note that this apprenticeship is in development and not yet approved but it is planned for a September 2020 intake.)

We currently work with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to support seconded staff to undertake the DN course.
If you are considering applying to a Trust in the northern region for sponsorship for the DN course or for the apprenticeship route, starting in September 2020, then this open event will be of interest.

We have arranged two opportunities for you to come along and hear more about the course. (Both managers and those considering applying are welcome.) It is also an opportunity to have a look at our campus and some of the facilities.
There will be a one hour talk followed by an opportunity to speak to the course team and ask questions. Tea and coffee will be available as well as parking.

The dates are:
Tuesday March 17th 2020 18.00-19.00 followed by 30 mins for questions

Saturday March 28th 2020 10.30-11.30 followed by 30 mins for questions.

(Please note the contents will be the same so there is no need to come to both events.)
