'Death, Doctors and the Criminal Law - Fatal Medical Errors in the 21st Century'
The criminal response to fatal medical errors continues to be source of concern. Dominating academic debates on gross negligence manslaughter, recent judicial efforts to introduce clarity to the law continue to be met with disagreement, with the result that doctors who cause the death of their patient remain vulnerable to a crime widely condemned as both unprincipled and unjust. This session examines the current legal response to fatal medical errors, and how the criminal law ought to respond to the incompetent doctor who despite their best efforts, causes the death of their patient.
This event is ideal for anyone considering studying a masters degree.
