Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer. They are being developed by the Government as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, and available to anybody living or working in the Tees Valley.
Skills Bootcamps are being delivered in partnership with employers, providers and local authorities, to help people gain skills for life, help support skills demands in their local area, and ultimately to help people get a better job.
Designed with industry to provide you with the skills that employers need, each learner will receive four to six hours of tuition each week delivered by experienced academics from Teesside University and our industry partners.
The Skills Bootcamp will be delivered online to ensure our learners can access the course easily. The Bootcamp will also include a bespoke employability programme culminating with an interview for a job or internship, where required. Upon successful completion of the Skills Bootcamp, you will receive a University Certificate in Professional Development (UCPD) at Level 4, 30 credits.
As part of the Bootcamp you will benefit from a bespoke employability programme delivered by our specialist careers team - supporting you to develop industry knowledge, build your network and improve your confidence.
If you are unemployed, employed (sponsorship by your current employer is required), self-employed looking to develop your skills on one of the Skills Bootcamps below, or if you are an employer looking to support your staff develop their skills, please register your interest as soon as you can as places are limited.
Skills Bootcamps will be provided at no cost for learners who meet the eligibility criteria and are accepted onto a course. However, you are only able to take part in one bootcamp from the consortium.
Employers will need to financially support their employees who wish to upskill through the Skills Bootcamps, which will include those proposed by their employer or those wishing to complete the course. A discount is available per employee which is dependent on the size of your organisation and these range from 30% to 90% (£1,050 to £3,150).
This Skills Bootcamp develops your skills in data analytics, reporting and visualisation looking at a range of different solutions from Advanced Excel to PowerBI.

Employers who wish to upskill existing employees who are recommended or individual applications, to study a Skills Bootcamp will receive a discount From the standard programme fee which is dependent on the size of your organisation. Discounts range from 30% to 90% (£1,050-£3,150)
You will need to provide both a CV and your 90 second selfie video letting us know your current skills and why you want to complete the Skills Bootcamp, during the application form process.

The Skills Bootcamps will provide learners with best-in-class digital skills education and deliver resilient pathways to work, with learners receiving the opportunity to interview with an employer upon the successful completion of their Skills Bootcamp.
*The Institute of Coding (IoC) is a collaborative national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers that are working together to respond to the UK's digital skills gap through the delivery of employer-led digital skills education. The IoC consortium, which is led by the University of Bath, was recently announced by Government as a provider for the Department for Education's (DfE) Skills Bootcamps.
