uGlow products

Founded by Louise Cooper, a former engineer who transitioned into the beauty industry, uGlow is a self-tanning brand focused on providing high-quality, mess-free tanning solutions. Recognising a gap in the market for a streak-free, natural-looking self-tanning product, Louise applied her engineering background to develop a formulation that combined advanced technology with nourishing ingredients.

To support business expansion and explore B2B opportunities, Louise enrolled in the Help to Grow: Management programme. The programme provided structured learning, networking opportunities, and mentorship, enabling uGlow to refine its market strategy and support business growth.

Challenge

uGlow sought to expand its operations from a primarily B2C model to B2B partnerships. The business needed to develop structured strategies to maintain brand consistency, and provide clear educational content to partners. Additionally, Louise aimed to enhance operational efficiencies while balancing strategic growth planning.

Solution

The Help to Grow: Management programme equipped uGlow with key business strategies, focusing on structured growth, customer engagement, and financial planning. Delivered by Teesside University International Business School, the 12-week course provided insights into market expansion and operational efficiencies. Mentorship was a key element, offering guidance on manufacturing considerations and business scalability.

Impact

uGlow’s participation in the programme delivered measurable outcomes:

• B2B growth: established 50 new salon partnerships and gained access to a network across 2,000 spas globally.
• Increased business performance: B2B salons reported a 112% increase in sales.
• Operational improvements: strengthened financial oversight and marketing strategy.
• Strategic direction: mentorship supported business planning, including considerations for relocating manufacturing to the North East.

The Help to Grow: Management programme provided uGlow with practical tools and strategic insights to refine its business model, strengthen B2B engagement, and support long-term growth in the self-tanning industry.
