The Higher Education Partner of the Year award celebrates higher education institutions that deliver exceptional outcomes through their partnership with the CMI, which inspires people to become skilled, confident and successful leaders.

Teesside University stood out for its innovative approach to embedding professional development, leadership capability and employability skills into the student journey.

The University’s CMI-accredited provision enables learners to achieve dual recognition, significantly enhancing employability and career progression by combining an academic qualification with professional status such as Chartered Manager.

CMI standards are embedded in leadership and management programmes across the University’s portfolio of qualifications.

As well as Teesside University International Business School, courses and professional apprenticeships within the School of Health & Life Sciences and School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Law are accredited by CMI, supporting learners to develop into senior roles across sectors such as healthcare, finance, and the creative industries.

Students also benefit from access to CMI resources including leadership diagnostics, webinars and career development tools, supporting reflective practice and real-world application of learning.

The University’s partnership with the CMI was recognised during a recent Ofsted inspection, where Teesside University was rated Outstanding in all areas for its apprenticeship provision. Inspectors praised the ‘transformative’ impact of apprenticeships and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships with professional bodies in meeting skills needs.

Teesside University and the Chartered Management Institute share a commitment to developing future leaders, delivering transformative opportunities and helping people reach their full potential.

“We are very proud to receive this national recognition which showcases the commitment and expertise of teams across our schools and professional services who contribute to our outstanding leadership and management education.”

This award comes at an exciting time for Teesside University, which was recently named Times Higher Education University of the Year and Daily Mail Modern University of the Year.

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Paul Croney OBE was also named Inspirational Business Leader at the BUSINESSiQ awards last week, further demonstrating the University’s leadership, ambition and impact across the region and beyond.
