Poppy, who is in her second year of a BA (Hons) Business Management will be joining Disney+ as a Business Operations Intern within the Global Strategic Initiatives and Launch team, beginning her placement this June.

The role will see her contribute to major projects as Disney continues to expand into new markets, launch innovative initiatives and respond to the fast evolving demands of the global streaming and entertainment sector.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Poppy said she is thrilled to be supporting the work of a brand that has played such a significant role in her own development.

She is particularly excited to explore how Disney+ integrates sustainable business practices, an area she is passionate about and eager to understand in more depth during her placement.

This builds upon a week-long Sustainable Entrepreneurship experience which Poppy undertook at the University of Malaya; a Teesside University mobility opportunity which was fully-funded by the UK Malaysia Consortium.

Her role at Disney+ will involve supporting the delivery of programming and content planning, contributing to marketing projects, and helping to launch Disney+ in new markets, alongside new product features and key campaigns.

Poppy has been supported in her studies by a Hammond Bursary, an award made by the Hammond Family and the Tees Foundation to a high-achieving student studying engineering, teaching or business management.

Poppy said: 'The Hammond Bursary helped me achieve my goal of securing an internship with an iconic global brand which offers the opportunity to develop valuable new skills and access a wider professional network.

'Being awarded the scholarship boosted my confidence in applying to competitive internships, allowed me to spend more of my personal time on applications and means I have extra financial support to contribute to my living costs whilst in London which is where I will be based.

'I would like to thank the Hammond Family once again for their support in helping me achieve my professional goals and preparing me for the future beyond graduation.'

This prestigious placement marks a major milestone in Poppy’s career journey and highlights the exciting real world opportunities available to Teesside University students.
