North Star Housing Group

North Star was established in 2006 as a non-charitable parent to provide services to, and bring together, Endeavour and Teesdale Housing Associations.

Over a number of years North Star has been developing shared leadership across the whole organisation, an approach developed in response to operating in an increasingly complex environment with many of the workforce involved in decision making, and therefore increasingly influential, leaderful and accountable.

The company firmly believe in investing in the development of individuals and teams and strategic priorities for North Star are to ensure that the unique culture continues to develop, supporting staff to manage and adapt to change more effectively and support the delivery of the business objectives.

Carole Richardson Director of People and Culture, North Star Housing said 'We know that our investment in people has helped to identify the potential managers and leaders of the future, and we wanted our staff to have the opportunity to complete academic study to help them in this regard.

"Through our existing partnership with Teesside University we were notified about the apprenticeship levy and the opportunities for non-ley paying organisations to get their staff formal qualifications through the university route.'

Four employees signed up for the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) leading to a BA (Hons) Management Practice degree and chartered manager status with the Chartered Management Institute on completion.
