Higher education is focus of free public lecture

The University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Professor Cliff Allan will look at developments in higher education policy in a free public lecture.

Professor Allan will present his lecture Reflections on Key Policy Shifts in Higher Education in the Centuria Building, off Wilton Street, from 6.30pm to 7.45pm on Wednesday 13 May.

His lecture will look at a number of key policy issues which he has been involved in, reflecting on the processes and influences behind these policies and where we are now in higher education policy terms.

The former Deputy Chief Executive of the Higher Education Academy has also worked at the Learning and Teaching Support Network, Higher Education Funding Council for England, JM Consulting, the Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council, ActionAid, Sudan’s Ministry of Education and Coventry Polytechnic.

Developing the academic portfolio In his role at Teesside, Professor Allan is responsible for developing the University’s academic portfolio and interdisciplinary academic clusters and for the further development of collaborative local and regional partnerships.

He leads work on University bursaries and scholarships and developing the lifelong learning and student recruitment strategies. He is responsible for the University’s marketing and student recruitment, including marketing, public relations and international development. He is also a governor of Hartlepool College.
