Teesside University Students' Union was awarded the Gold accreditation in the 2017 Best Bar None awards for the quality of our social spaces and licensed premises.

The Terrace

The Students' Union bar and restaurant is the place to be for students day or night with a wide range of beverages, soft and alcoholic drinks plus delicious hot food, first-rate customer service, big screen sport, pool tables, video games and a resident DJ on selected nights.

The Hub

This modern, multi-purpose and 1,000 capacity venue is home to a huge range of student and external events including freshers fairs, University open and welcome days, club/theme nights, live music and comedy.

There are also massive one-off events featuring some of the biggest names in entertainment - previously Professor Green, DJ Fresh, Tinchy Stryder, Example, Calvin Harris, Scott Mills and Greg James to name just a few. It's an increasingly popular place for all kinds of private events such as award presentations, birthday and anniversary parties and can be hired out.

The SU Student Support

The SU Student Support is the Students' Union's one-stop shop for free, independent help from fully qualified and professional Welfare Advisers with problems and issues around finance, housing, immigration and much more. There's also a great range of part-time vacancies designed to fit around timetables while our Academic Advisers are on hand with support should students encounter issues with the academic side of student life and, where appropriate, will help should a student face disciplinary action from the University.

School representatives

There are a total of 25 school representatives across the University. Each School has five representatives. They provide support and guidance to students in a variety of areas, helping to resolve issues and ensuring that they are connected with the appropriate support services and can seek out opportunities for improvement.

Welcome week

Every September we hold information fairs to welcome new and returning students. It's an opportunity to join a club, society or volunteering group, pick up your NUS Extra Card and meet fellow students.

TOTUM card and app

NUS Extra card The TOTUM card and app (previously known as NUS Extra) are available to all current students for a one-off payment of £12. The card is valid for 12 months and gives you access to a wide range of discounts and savings from international, national and local retailers, plus additional offers and events throughout the academic year. You can reserve your card through the TOTUM website and have it delivered to the Students' Union or another address of your choice. You can also download the TOTUM app to your phone. 40% of every card sale goes to Teesside University Students' Union and is reinvested in services, events and venues for all students.

For more information about Teesside University's Students' Union (TUSU):

Independent of the University, the union is run by a Board of Trustees including four elected officers, all previous students. As a student, you automatically become a member. All profits we make fund other services for you.

We can represent and support you whenever you need it. As an equal opportunities organisation, we ensure ALL students can access a wide range of services and volunteering opportunities.

SU activities

This is the place to find out about our wide range of clubs and societies as well as the volunteering opportunities we can offer you. It's so successful we won a Sport England's VIP Recognition Award for supporting volunteering in sport.

SU Student Support is a friendly and confidential service which provides help and information on a range of issues such as finance, accommodation or your course.
