Michael came to Teesside after studying at Belfast Metropolitan College.
I wanted to give myself greater opportunities in life and strengthen my skillset by achieving the highest levels of education possible.
I’ve always had a fascination with journalism and the media industry. I love to create products that inform, educate and entertain an audience. Each experience in journalism brings a different challenge and that’s really rewarding.
I believe the reputation and location of a university is important and Teesside University offered what I wanted. Coming from Northern Ireland I needed to be close to an airport and good public transport links and Teesside has this.
I really enjoyed my final major project as it provided the ultimate test for me, working in a group to source and disseminate my own news content was a fun and rewarding experience that strengthened my team building skills and overall work ethic.
It was incredibly overwhelming for me. Everything was a learning curve. However, by the time January came around I loved it. I knew so many awesome people and I've really thrived at Teesside.
I've met so many interesting people and clubs, and my course has given me such a rewarding and fun experience.
Moving away from home allowed me to build a greater level of confidence in myself.
I would! I had a great time. A very rewarding experience that I feel has allowed me to mature. From taking part in weightlifting as an extra-curricular activity to my actual course – I have learned so much.
My course has allowed me to develop my skills as a media practitioner and I now understand things at a much greater level.
For the social experience, I can’t recommend Teesside University enough. There are some great people there that are just incredibly wonderful and influential. The people on campus are really awesome, from staff to students – the majority of people I met were so cool.
I really did relish sharing an experience with so many like-minded people who had the same life goals, opinions and hobbies as me.
