Why Teesside?

The course is delivered at Stockton Riverside College and I work there, so it was easy to access. They also offered the course I wanted. I work for The Prince’s Trust and wanted a teaching qualification to expand my skillset.

Best thing about your course?

My tutor delivered the programme incredibly well. I was unsure about my academic ability and I wasn’t confident I could complete the course, but she supported me and pushed me to excel. I particularly enjoyed the sessions on student safeguarding.

What skills have you gained?

I have expanded my teaching knowledge, which will help maximise student achievement.
Before the course I had a lot of experience presenting to large groups, but I only had one style of teaching. I’ve learnt that to make a student’s journey positive you need to use different teaching styles.

Future ambitions?

I would like to eventually work in a safeguarding or prevention role, hopefully leading a department. I’m also interested in teaching mental health in schools.
