Why Teesside?

At college, I spent a lot of time looking for the university that offered the perfect course for me and when I heard of this course at Teesside I knew that it was the one for me.

Why business with marketing?

I wasn’t sure what course I wanted to study as I had an interest in both business and marketing, but when I saw Teesside offered a joint course I was immediately sold. Being able to study a course where I can learn about general business studies as well as gaining more knowledge of the marketing world was the ideal situation for me.

Best thing about your course?

I enjoy the amount of practical work you complete. Working with live businesses means that you can put your skills to the test in a practical setting. This is especially relevant in the marketing modules where we worked with businesses like Greggs and local charities. It is what really made the course enjoyable.

How are the services on campus?

The services are great and convenient with lots of study areas and private rooms on offer. It makes it so much easier to be able to concentrate and study well when you have such a selection of study areas. The Students’ Union is exceptional with all the events they put on and they provide a great university experience.

What is Middlesbrough like?

There is much to offer in Middlesbrough and there is always something going on in the town with a lot of great social opportunities.

Have you worked on any live projects?

I have had the pleasure of working with local businesses and charities. One of my roles was to give guidance and advice to the business when they were looking for help with their activity in Middlesbrough.

What skills have you gained?

My confidence is something that has really been boosted by being at Teesside. Speaking out and voicing my opinions in big groups became a lot easier to me thanks to studying here. Being confident in yourself is vital to being successful and the lecturers make sure that you are in a safe space, so you don’t feel pressure on voicing your thoughts.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Yes, Teesside is one of the best places to get the most out of your university experience and the town has so much to offer. If you ask questions, make friends and have fun you’ll have a great time.
