Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I’ve always had a strong desire to obtain a degree, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible for me when I finished school.
Through my employer, I was fortunate to gain the opportunity to pursue a business degree through the apprenticeship scheme. This degree is mainly for personal growth, but I believe it will equip me with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive in today's dynamic business environment and unlock future opportunities.

Best thing about your apprenticeship?

I’ve engaged with various modules that have immensely contributed to my growth as a manager. These modules have equipped me with the valuable knowledge, skills, and insights necessary to excel in this role.

Thoughts on the campus and services offered?

The modern campus facilities, accessibility and focus on safety make Teesside University an excellent choice. With a vibrant learning environment and delicious food options, this university has it all.

What benefits have you experienced?

One of the key areas I have focused on so far is reflective thinking. I’ve learnt the importance of analysing situations objectively and removing personal emotions from the decision-making process. This has allowed me to approach challenges with a clear and rational mindset, enabling me to make well-informed decisions. By practicing reflective thinking, I’ve been able to view situations from different perspectives, consider alternative solutions, and evaluate the potential outcomes more effectively. This has significantly enhanced my managerial abilities and positively impacted my interactions with colleagues.

What are your career ambitions?

Apprenticeships offer an accessible path into career progression. My goal is to grow and learn as an individual through hard work and determination. I want to embrace new challenges and opportunities. I hope to make a positive contribution wherever I work in the future.

Would you recommend Teesside University and your apprenticeship?

I would thoroughly recommend Teesside University. Throughout my apprenticeship journey, I’ve had the privilege of meeting numerous individuals who share a similar passion for learning and I’ve made lifelong friendships along the way. The guidance and mentorship of the lecturers have been significant and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in the programme.
