Where did you hear about Teesside University?

I first heard about Teesside at high school. I found the animation courses online, and that’s when I saw Teesside. Looking further into the course overview and watching the student showreels, I knew this was the perfect course for me.

Did you attend one of our open days?

I did. It was great to see the facilities and talk to staff about the course. I spent the weekend in Middlesbrough exploring the town, before heading back home to finish the last of my A-level exams.

What do you think of Teesside University?

It’s a brilliant place to study. The campus is constantly evolving, with several buildings being constructed or renovated over recent years.

I like that everything is on campus, you’re never far away from where you need to be. There are plenty of places to eat and hang out with friends. The Students’ Union hosts many events throughout the year so there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the evenings.

What do you think of Middlesbrough and the surrounding area?

Everything you need is within walking distance, from shopping to entertainment. If nightclubs are your thing, there are plenty to choose from, or if you prefer, there’s Level X in Captain Cook Square, or the cinema nearby. I also like taking trips out to Stewart Park when the weather is nice.

What’s the best thing about your course?

It’s given me the opportunity to try out different things and has opened my mind to the many paths that my career can take, and I have opportunities to showcase at events like ExpoTalent and Animex.

Tutors are very supportive and are more than happy to help if you have any issues. It’s great having one-on-one time with them in class to get feedback on my work.

What advice would you offer to students who are thinking of coming here to study?

Take it one step at a time, and everything will work out the way it needs to. Take advantage of the many social events at freshers and get to know people in your flat, classes and societies, and have fun.

Would you recommend Teesside University?

The facilities are great, and I’ve learnt so much in my first year. The university has already given me so many opportunities, from attending ExpoTees, to becoming a course representative and student ambassador.
