The underpinning research presented in this paper was developed by Professor Farzad Rahimian, from the School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies, in collaboration with his colleagues from the University of Florence, during his visiting professorship in 2019.
Their research paper, On-demand generation of as-built infrastructure information models for mechanised tunnelling from TBM data: A computational design approach, was published in Automation in Construction (IF= 10.517), the world's flagship journal which currently has the highest rank within the field of the built environment.
The award for the best research paper of the year was presented at an annual event of ISTeA (the Italian Society of Science, Technology and Engineering of Architecture), held in Turin, to Professor Rahimian and his Italian colleagues Dr Vito Getuli, Professor Pietro Capone and Dr Alessandro Bruttini. This research paper was highly commended by the ISTeA panel.
ISTeA is an Italian academic society representing researchers and scientists working in construction management and digitalisation in the built environment.
