Rebecca Robinson, 29, and Jessica Lewis, 23, both from Hartlepool, graduated from Teesside University’s School of Health & Life Sciences.

Rebecca studied BSc Nursing (Adult) and Jessica studied BSc Midwifery. Both work at University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton, Rebecca is a theatre anaesthetic nurse, while Jessica is a midwife.

Rebecca said: “We both qualified in September last year and we still often cross paths at work, especially during caesarean sections at the hospital.

“We knew we wanted to study close to home and we were lucky enough to both get accepted to the course we wanted. We had heard a lot of good feedback about the University.

“We chose Teesside University as we both have friends in similar fields and they all took the same path to get them were they needed to be, so we knew the University would be able to accommodate our needs and prepare us completely for our future careers.

She added: “Although we are cousins, we were raised more like siblings and we are both the first in our family to go on to become healthcare professionals.

“We’ve other relatives who have studied here too. Our grandparent have all of our cousins’ graduation photos on their fireplace, most of which are from Teesside University.”

Jessica added: "It's been a really good experience. It's been a three year course and we've been able to support each other throughout as we've been in the same situation. It's been really good."
