Research support

Training and resources

Teesside University researchers and research managers have access to a range of training opportunities and resources to support their personal and professional development.

Research and Innovation Services and the Department for Academic Enterprise offer researchers tailored support on research careers, funding, tenders, impact and engagement, commercialisation, and knowledge exchange as well as offer a comprehensive developmental programme.

R&E Toolkit

Informed by the latest developments in research policy and research and management studies, our online toolkit supports researchers to advance their careers, achieve their potential, and to foster a responsible and innovative research culture. Aligned to Vitae's Researcher Development Framework and supporting the principles articulated in UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, our training and development programme supports researchers to excel in their research careers.

As well as access to TU materials and resources, researchers and research managers can also access high quality resources from external organisations, including:

  • AdvanceHE, a national organisation that supports Higher Education Institutions with transformative leadership and management, teaching and learning, equality, diversity and inclusion, and effective governance, including the importance of accreditation of teaching and learning programmes, Athena SWAN, and the Race Equality Charter
  • Vitae, the professional organisation for researcher development. To access their resources, training materials, and advice and guidance, create an account using your university email.
  • Research Professional, a comprehensive online tool for keeping up to date with developments in research policy and for funding funding opportunities.
  • UK Council for Graduate Education (UKCGE) hosts a range of reports, resources and guidance for doctoral supervisors. You can access these by creating an account using your university email.
