A key priority at Teesside is the continued investment in research excellence and development of a sustainable, diverse, inclusive and supportive research community. The number of staff engaged in research across the university continues to grow and we offer a range of programmes and support to assist academic staff from early career researchers to experienced research leaders.

Researcher development

Funding advice

Our Research Funding team provide regular updates on funding calls and support staff with proposal development, as well as sourcing and managing project funding. For more information contact the Research Funding Team.

Research impact and engagement

At Teesside, we are committed to sharing our knowledge and research with the wider community, engaging in discussion to shape our research. Our REF and Impact Support Team work with staff to incorporate ideas for engaging the public and sharing ideas, as well as maximising the impact associated with the research.

Academic promotion and conferment

In 2017 Teesside University launched its new Academic Promotion Pathways. The Scheme provides three parallel and equivalent pathways for staff to progress on the basis of their academic contribution to each of the Research, Enterprise and Learning and Teaching agendas of the University through Grade 9 and up to the Role of Professor. Continuing professional development for researchers

Teesside University is committed to supporting research staff by enhancing their experience of working at the University and contributing to their career development. Initial and continuing professional development opportunities are provided Research & Innovation Services (Researcher Development), Human Resources (Organisational Development), and Academic Registry (Learning & Teaching Enhancement).
