Quality teaching

Our staff are experienced practitioners from a broad range of media industries including international and national journalism brands, independent and mainstream film production companies, broadcast and radio stations and the digital communication and promotion industries.

Learning and teaching focuses on the student and allows you to work on industry led and industry standard projects throughout your studies. Modules are designed to develop creative skills and competencies.

You learn practically, creatively, and strategically, with focus primarily on your employability. You are allocated a personal tutor who supports the planning and management of your learning to help you build confidence as a media professional.

On campus
You learn collaboratively, working with highly experienced media professionals, academics and technicians. Our equipment is impressive, with bespoke TV and radio studios, a virtual reality suite, two multimedia newsrooms, a broadcast news studio, a range of editing suites and high specification cameras and recording equipment. These facilities and resources are freely and continually available throughout your studies.

You are also supported through a range of digital learning materials allowing you to speed-up or slow down your learning journey at your own pace. Our approach is to use digital and multimedia technologies to help you succeed.

Off campus
Our placements officer helps you find opportunities with a broad range of industry partners. We offer projects and work opportunities regionally and nationally with the BBC and Channel 4, Trinity Mirror newspaper group, regional community television, top-flight football clubs, Sky Sports and in a range of independent film companies, national newspaper and PR and digital communication industries.

First-class facilities

Teesside University is a digital campus, with facilities that offer the latest in creative learning and teaching. Our bespoke media facilities include a HD television studio, virtual reality suite, two multimedia newsrooms and TV news studio, edit and post-production suites and a radio station.
