07 May 2013

At a time when economic turbulence is prominent in everyone’s minds, the airline industry was among the varied topics in the spotlight when British Airways Chief Executive Keith Williams joined speakers at the annual Teesside University Business School Conference.

Speakers this year included: • Keith Williams, Chief Executive of British Airways • Peter Atherton, Head of Utility Sector at Liberum Capital • Dr Sue Smith, Assistant Dean, Teesside University Business School.

This year’s conference took place on Monday 13 May in the University’s Europa Building.

Keith Williams, who is originally from Guisborough, was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration as a Teesside University Honorary Graduate in 2011.

Alastair Thomson, Dean of Teesside University Business School said: 'Our annual conference offers businesses an opportunity to share ideas to make their organisations more profitable, more stable and more sustainable, even in these tough times.'

Teesside University Business School Conference has been one of the key events in Teesside’s business calendar for several years, with previous speakers including the Director General of the CBI, Global President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank.

Conference speakers participated in a Q&A session, enabling the audience to hear their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the region’s business community.
