You gain an in-depth knowledge of the global marketplace with a specialist focus on the role of digital business technologies. And develop a range of business and technical skills including working effectively within international business management project teams.

You explore critical theories and concepts to analyse and differentiate the strategic values of emerging technologies (cloud computing, social media, big data, the internet of things), and critically evaluate different methods of aligning technological opportunities with business strategy to effectively convert digital opportunities into competitiveness.

The applied element allows you to develop practice-based solutions to real-world problems. You take on a consultancy role, working on projects or internships, identifying opportunities and ideas, before going on to present strategic solutions to the client. You develop personal and professional knowledge, skills and behaviours through a process of self-reflection on your practice.

Core modules

Advanced Practice

Advanced practice develops your experience and allows you to gain real-world practical experience to enhance your employability and learning. You receive preparatory sessions so you can apply for internships which normally include research or project-based, opportunities, employer-led, work based opportunities. Work based internships with external organisations based offsite. You explore advanced practice opportunities to enhance your skill set and meet aspirations, related to your course. You are assessed through a reflective assessment equivalent to 3,000 words marked on a pass/fail basis. This module does not count towards the overall classification of the degree.

Applied Digital Enterprise

Understand how key technical skills are used to create a digital business presence, covering various topics including:

• e-commerce
• buying and selling online
• mobile first solutions
• user interface and user experience design
• digital marketing
• branding and advertising
• integration with backroom systems
• legal issues associated with global online business.

Business Project

Develop a piece of work that brings together key elements of your learning. Demonstrate the knowledge you have acquired, an understanding of practice and its application in a professional context.

You choose the unique composition, content and context of your project, demonstrating reflective practice with a commitment to continual learning and development.

Critical Business Enquiry

Gain a deep understanding of real-world organisational challenges and how to develop effective solutions. Become a proficient planner who can execute in-depth research in business and management. Through a blend of quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques, you dissect data to propose standardised solutions to intricate industrial issues, and finish with a professional report presentation.

Global Digital Innovation and Transformation

Explore how information technologies support emerging business models, and how digital opportunities can be strategically transformed into sustainable competitive advantages. Study critical theories and concepts to analyse and differentiate the values of technologies, such as cloud computing, social media, big data and the internet of things.

Reimagining Sustainable Management in Global Markets

Gain a comprehensive understanding of key concepts, strategies and practices to reimagine responsible management in the global market, allowing you to effectively manage organisations and proactively explore new ways of thinking creatively to navigate an evolving global landscape. Focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), learning how and why they came about through key literature, research and economic policy.

Also explore and examine the link between economic policies and environmental sustainability, the effects of international trade and globalisation on environmental resources, the role of international environmental agreements, and the emergence of new business models centred on the principles of sustainability and social accountability.

How you learn

This programme enables you to develop a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of international management and broad digital business themes as well as a range of practical, professional and key transferable skills.

  • Interactive classroom sessions deliver the relevant subject knowledge and allow you to explore and apply theory to real examples.
  • You engage in group work, class debate, employer projects, case studies analysis and research.
  • The dissertation requires the use of a range of cognitive and intellectual skills and you need to demonstrate the ability to produce a substantial piece of self-directed work.

How you are assessed

The assessment strategy has been designed to assess your subject-specific knowledge, cognitive and intellectual skills and transferable skills applicable to the workplace. The strategy ensures that you are provided with opportunities for feedback to assess your learning and guide you with the final assessments for each module.

The assessments include assignments, business reports, case studies, presentations, a research proposal and literature review, and the production of a dissertation. The assessments may include individual or group essays or reports.

 

Entry requirements

The normal entry requirement is one of the following:

  • an honours degree (at least a 2:2)
  • a post-experience or professional qualification
  • equivalent qualifications (including international qualifications).

For EU and international students, an IELTS score (or equivalent) of 6.
