Why Teesside?

I chose Teesside as it is one of the only universities in the country that offers a specialist course in instrumentation and control engineering. While at college the head of the engineering at Teesside came to talk to us about the University - they made a great impression and the course and modules really interested me.

Best thing about the course?

Learning in-depth about what happens in industry was a real highlight. Gaining a greater understanding of the principles and mathematics behind everything is something I was really interested in. The course helped me grow as a person by giving me confidence and assurance in my work.

How was Teesside prepared you?

Teesside has prepared me well for employment as the modules help you build habits and teach you skills that transfer into the workplace. For example, being able to communicate effectively is something the course puts emphasis on throughout, which of course is needed when working in a team.

Would you recommend Teesside?

I would recommend this course to anyone who is sitting on the fence. I am from the North East and there is so much industry involving instrumentation and control engineering in the region and the University has great connections with those industries. Having this degree is going to hold you in high regard with local employers.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My short-term ambition is to complete an the MSc Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Teesside so I can continue and expand my knowledge in the area. I would like to one day become a chartered engineer by combining my experience and academic studies over the years.
