Why Teesside?

I’m a local Teessider and studying at Teesside University was always something I had on my mind growing up, especially as I have family members who attended Teesside and loved their experience. The employment opportunities available to graduates really attracted me, and the modern and contemporary developments that have been made around campus impressed me compared to other institutions.

Why business management?

Business management attracted me as I had grown tired of my previous profession and my family has a history of working in the business sector. My brother is a senior business leader in Teesside and has been for over 15 years, and the idea of one day running my own business excited me and being able to develop my confidence and skillset made the course a great match for me.

Best thing about your course?

I love engaging and collaborating with my classmates, it’s great being able to learn from them and exchange ideas with different people. The course equips you with everything you’ll need to work in industry after graduating, my confidence in using creative software like the Adobe packages have improved greatly since starting the course.

Favourite module?

The modules give you practical experience and present opportunities you won’t have if you don’t study this course. They also allow you to learn about areas you might not have known you were interested in like tourism and aviation. Being able to learn about the tourism industry was fascinating and opened up a brand new industry I didn’t know much about, and being able to complete work experience in an airport was a great experience.

How is the campus?

The campus is brilliant, modern and beautifully designed. The most recent building completed the Student Life Building is great, the space is great to relax and learn depending on what you’re looking for. There is so much support available at the Library. The workshops you can attend to help with essay writing are great and the help with finding academic journals is a lifesaver. The Students’ Union is a lot of fun on the evenings and a great place to meet new people.

What skills have you gained at Teesside?

Being able to network with others and communicate is an essential skill I have gained as a result of the engaging modules I have studied. I have also learned how to articulate business concepts and theories as well as learn how to use business applications in the world on employment. One area I struggled with when I started the course was my confidence. During my time at Teesside, I have learned how to work confidently and under pressure, the lecturers have been great at pushing me out of my comfort zone but helping me every step of the way.

Would you recommend Teesside?
