HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering by Flexible Open Learning

I have a natural thirst for knowledge and love a good challenge, so I got great satisfaction from building up my knowledge from a basic level, leaving me with a clear understanding of the areas of study.

I chose Teesside University because the course that is offered here closely matched my current field of work and the ability to study in my own time, at my own pace, was a necessity to me.

Why Teesside?

After one too many mundane days in my day job as commercial and industrial electrician, I decided it was time to make a change and challenge myself.

I chose Teesside University because the course that is offered here closely matched my current field of work and the ability to study in my own time, at my own pace, was a necessity to me.

Being able to study alongside my also meant I was able to put my newly gained knowledge to use every day.

Favourite part about your course?

I have a natural thirst for knowledge and love a good challenge, so I got great satisfaction from building up my knowledge from a basic level, leaving me with a clear understanding of the areas of study.

I particularly enjoyed the Engineering Design module as this was new to me, and I found learning AutoCAD (Autodesk computer-aided design) to be an extremely rewarding experience.

Future ambitions

Alongside my HNC, I have been studying towards my private pilot’s license and I plan to move on and gain my air transport pilot’s license.

The commercial aviation world is very competitive and my HNC from Teesside will really help me stand out from the crowd in my new career.

Would you recommend Teesside?

I would recommend open learning at Teesside to anyone else considering it. The course is well structured and easy to follow, and tutors are always on hand with a quick response to any questions you might have.
