My time here has honestly been the best three years of my life, it’s fun and hard work but well worth it in the end.
You can express yourself through your work and the tutors and people on the course help and support you to grow as a person and as an animator.
I was finishing my third year of college when I found out about Teesside and their unique 2D animation course. Many other universities focus on game animation rather than traditional 2D animation and stop motion which is right up my alley.
I chose 2D animation as it’s been a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve always had a thing for drawing cartoon characters whether it be comics or other doodles and it’s something I am very passionate about. So why not take it all the way and pursue it as a career.
You can express yourself through your work and the tutors and people on the course help and support you to grow as a person and as an animator. It’s great working with people who have the same passion and collaborating to make some awesome animated works.
The Library and Student Union building are especially useful, having the Library open 24 hours has been an incredible help for late night studies, especially with animation taking so much time to create.
I’ve gained a lot of skills during my time here at Teesside, but the most important skill I have learned is to have confidence in my own ability and not to compare myself to other people and their work.
I want to be the role model I wish I had growing up. When choosing animation as my career I never really had anyone to look up to for guidance, as in my school and college there weren’t really anyone who had the same goals I had.
I wish to be someone that people look up to for guidance and inspiration. I want people to see my work whether it’s animation or comics and think they can achieve that too. I want to be successful and leave my mark for future artists and animators so they can pursue the same path I have.
I would 100% recommended Teesside and the 2D animation course as there’s nothing quite like it. My time here has honestly been the best three years of my life, it’s fun and hard work but well worth it in the end.
