Why Teesside?

It had the most welcoming and exciting atmosphere of any of the universities I visited, as well as amazing staff and local vibe.

Best thing about your course?

The modules were unique and interesting. The lecturers are genuinely great people too, continuing to support me and my business after I graduated. I love bumping into them and chatting.

Tell us about the campus

The University was in a process of a huge regeneration while I was there – walking through the campus now it's unbelievable to see the transformation.

Did you receive any financial support?

I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship, which meant I could reduce my hours in my part-time job and fully immerse myself in student life.

What are you doing now?

I own my own business, Ellephant Vegan Bakery in Stockton-on-Tees. I get to work as a baker, accountant, marketing manager, social media manager and photographer.

How were the University’s support services?

I took part in the Launchpad FUEL programme which gave me funding towards my business. I moved out of my kitchen and into a unit and the business grew very quickly – it really was life changing so I’d recommend it if you're thinking of starting a business.

Did your time here help you to get closer to your goals?

Absolutely, without the help from Teesside I wouldn't be where I am today.

Would you recommend Teesside University?

In a heartbeat. The staff, the options, the atmosphere and the surrounding businesses. Middlesbrough is the place to be if you want to be part of a progressive and inspiring town, on its way to city-like status.
