Why university and why Teesside?

I decided to go back to university to develop my marketing skills. I was drawn to Teesside by other students’ case studies, and as it’s my local university. Working full-time as a marketing coordinator at Rockliffe Hall, I needed something flexible and Teesside fit as they offered a part-time digital marketing course.

Why digital marketing?

I studied my undergraduate degree in fashion journalism, and naturally started writing online and creating social media content. This led me into marketing roles, though I didn’t have any marketing background in my studies. I chose this course because I wanted to develop a more analytical side to my skills.

Best thing about the course?

The flexibility has been great. I study one module a term while working full-time and I’ve particularly enjoyed Digital Communications.

Tell us about the campus and facilities

Before I came here, I didn’t realise how big the campus is, and how all the buildings are so close together, which is great. The facilities are also good, I’ve used the Library throughout my studies and enjoy the postgraduate space.

What opportunities have you had while studying?

The Rome Business School trip in the summer was a fantastic experience. Not only did I gain knowledge for my career, I also learned so much about the culture and made some great friends. These are memories I will treasure forever, and I’m so glad I put myself out of my comfort zone to go.

What skills have you gained?

I’ve developed my confidence, analytical skills, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Ambitions for the future?

To have my own social media and digital marketing business.

Any advice for future students?
