Why Teesside?

I was drawn to Teesside University due to its unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation, with a supportive community.

Why MA Design?

My decision to study a Master’s degree was driven by a deep desire to refine and perfect my creative process, broaden my horizons and gain a comprehensive understanding of the technical intricacies in my field.

This course epitomises a dynamic, multidisciplinary approach that resonates with my design philosophy and personal values. I consider myself a versatile generalist, eager to explore different creative domains. The course offers a gateway to unlock creative avenues, including fashion design, visual communication, UI/UX design, and product design.

Its unique attribute lies in its ability to provide a nurturing environment where creative freedom flourishes, empowering individuals to boldly express their ideas while benefiting from expert guidance throughout the transformative process.

What modules have you enjoyed?

I enjoyed Innovation by Design, which propelled my creative thinking and refined my presentation skills. Likewise, Design Integration served as a transformative experience, growing my leadership abilities and project management skills, while nurturing my creative instincts. The course continuously ignites my creativity by presenting invigorating challenges that fuel my growth.

What do you think about the campus?

The campus is fantastic with plenty of resources. The library is a true gem, offering a variety of areas for quiet study or dynamic brainstorming sessions. One building that has captured my heart is The Buttery, an ingenious area featuring delightful spaces and trendy nooks to get on with work. The Students’ Union has become a place for relaxation, alone and in the company of friends. It provides opportunities to forge new connections and socialise due to the variety of activities, eating options and events.

What about Middlesbrough?

Middlesbrough has a blend of contemporary and historical infrastructures giving a captivating charm to its landscape. Though the climate tends to be chilly and breezy, the locals are warm-hearted and engaging.

What projects have you worked on so far?

I have undertaken two remarkable projects at Teesside University. The first, Switch Up, focuses on sustainability and the creation of an upcycling app catering to the passionate community of eco-enthusiasts. The second is a fashion collection which featured on the TeesMade Marketplace.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Yes, I would. The environment is safe and the facilities are exceptional.
