Reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process

We are committed to treating all our job applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of your actual or assumed background or any protected characteristic. We recognise the talent that people with disabilities have, and the huge potential they have. We are working to make our workplace inclusive, and we welcome applications from people who identify as disabled or who have other long-term conditions and impairments.

As a Disability Confident Leader we are not only committed to selecting our talent by recognising your strengths and abilities, but we also strive to lead by example to change people's attitudes towards disability. As a Disability Confident Leader we are taking an active leadership role in encouraging and helping other employers on their journey to becoming Disability Confident.

If you're a person with a disability, or if you have a condition that you believe may affect your performance during our selection process, we will be happy to make reasonable adjustments to our processes for you. You will have the opportunity to let us know about any adjustments you may need as you complete your application.

The application form provides an opportunity for you to state whether reasonable adjustments are required for you to take part in the selection/interview process and also to explain what adjustments you would need if you were to join us as an employee. For the selection/interview process, if the details you provide on your form are clear we will make sure that the team make these arrangements for you. If the information is unclear, or we need additional information from you, we may contact you to discuss your needs in more detail. If you join us as an employee, we would work with you to make sure you have the adjustments you need to succeed in the role.

Examples of adjustments we have made, to give you an idea of what is possible:

  • extra time for online assessments
  • providing alternative accessible formats
  • hard copy accessible materials e.g. large print
  • office orientation before an in-person assessment
  • interview questions provided to applicants in advance so they can prepare
  • changes to the location of the interview.
