Alumni library membership

Teesside University is pleased to offer graduates access to the University library – completely free of charge.

As a valued part of Teesside’s community, you can:

  • Use the library space – in the week, as well as on weekends, during staffed hours
  • Borrow up to twelve standard loan items for up to 4 weeks
  • Use our telephone or online service to renew your loans
  • Search our collections in advance on The Catalogue
  • Relax in the Food Quarter

How to gain library membership?

It’s a two-stage process to obtain your library membership card.

Firstly, graduates need to obtain proof of graduate status from the Alumni Engagement Team. Proof of graduate status will be returned via email.

Secondly, graduates need to apply to the library for membership. The Library Team will send you an email when your request for membership has been approved.

Once you’ve been sent proof of graduate status and have received confirmation from the library that membership has been approved, simply visit the  Library Welcome Desk within Middlesbrough Campus Library, between 9.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, to obtain your Library TUSC (access card).

Don't forget to take along your proof of graduate status, either on your phone or in printed format, plus provide proof of identification which includes your name, address and date of birth.

FAQs

How do I access the library?

The Library will provide eligible alumni with a Teesside University Smart Card (TUSC). Library Welcome Desk staff issue the card. Access without TUSC card is not possible.

What cost is charged to obtain Alumni library membership?

There is no charge for alumni library membership.

What times can I access the library?

Alumni can access the library during staffed hours. View the opening times

I graduated several years ago, can I still access this alumni benefit?

Absolutely! All former students are eligible to access this benefit regardless of when they graduated.

Can I access Wi-Fi in the University library?

Unfortunately we are currently unable to offer guest access to our Wi-Fi for alumni wishing to study or read in the library.
