Why Teesside University?

I chose Teesside as I needed somewhere within a commutable distance from home, as I have a family. After looking at the courses offered at Teesside, I realised that the practical learning was much more in line with how I think and work and would suit me best. And I’m confident that this course will lead in to getting a job once I’ve completed my studies.

What do you like about your course?

I like the fact that we work on real life scenarios. Using real case studies is great, as it could well be what I’ll do in the future, so makes it much easier to focus on the task. The lecturers have been great at dealing with remote learning, and have listened to our requests, such as more live sessions as opposed to pre-recorded lessons.

What scholarship or financial support have you received from the University and how has this helped you?

I have been fortunate to receive the Ken Home Scholarship, as well as the Teesside Advance allowance of £100 a year for books or equipment. As they are both extra support, to what I was planning on, I feel happier putting it towards resources that make my life easier, like textbooks or computing equipment. The Ken Home Scholarship especially gives me some financial breathing space, which has eased the burden on myself and my wife.

Would you recommend Teesside University and your course to others?

Yes, definitely, the staff work really hard to make the learning relevant and easy to understand. They have listened to our feedback and made changes to help us. The facilities are great and the time we have had in the labs has been extremely useful.
