Beth Mead Scholarship

The University is pleased to announce the launch of the Beth Mead Scholarship to support four future female football scholars to pursue a degree at Teesside University alongside their football training. Scholars can undertake a undergraduate or postgraduate course in any discipline.

The four Beth Mead Scholarships have now been awarded subject to meeting the eligibility checks and criteria. All other applications are still welcome, however they with be reviewed and placed on a shortlist.

Beth Mead

The scholarship has been created in partnership with Beth Mead, Arsenal Women and England footballer and BA (Hons) Sports Development graduate of Teesside University.

With thanks to Beth for her support, four scholarships will now be available for students enrolling in the 2022-23 academic year, with a bursary of £1,200 awarded to each scholar across the duration of their course.

To be eligible, you must be a national, international and or a professional female footballer who can contribute positively to sport at Teesside University through international level sports performance. You must be willing to promote the University and the support your receive on social media and other marketing activities.

Scholarship benefits

Beth is an active ambassador of the scholarship and will support scholars by mentoring you three times per year.

This support is available to athletes, subject to an application process, which is open to those who have the potential to develop and enhance the reputation of Teesside University through international-level sports performance.

Entry criteria

You must:

  • Be a national, international and or a professional female footballer who can contribute positively to sport at Teesside University through international level sports performance.
  • Successfully achieve a place on a course at Teesside University or be already studying here during the 2022 - 2023 academic year (all courses are eligible, both undergraduate and postgraduate).

Applications are now open. To apply, please click the apply now button and complete the application form. The four scholarship places are given out on a first come, first serve basis to appropriate and eligible applicants. The final closing date and latest you can apply by is 5.00pm on 31 August 2022.

Outcome

Successful applicants will be notified (at the latest) 4 weeks after their application, but will not be eligible to receive the scholarship unless they successfully enrol and begin their course in September 2022.

Note

Places are limited and will go to the strongest applicants and all offers are subject to enrolment on a course at Teesside University.

Meeting the criteria does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.
