Are you interested in playing your favourite sport, trying something new, or just meeting new people through one of our many sports clubs at Teesside University?
Take a look at our clubs below. Some of these will compete in BUCS, some of these will have internal campus competition and others are just for participation. Many of the clubs are university run and based on campus, but in some instances we are linked with local providers who can offer a great sports club experience.

2022-23 successes
- Women's Football crowned BUCS Division 2 & Conference Cup Champions following an unbeaten season
- Men's Badminton crowned BUCS Division 5 Champions following an unbeaten league season
- A Gold and Silver medal in the BUCS Judo Championships
- 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal across the BUCS Taekwondo Championships
- A Silver medal in Taekwondo at the European University Games, with 4 athletes being selected to compete
- A Bronze medal at the BUCS Boxing Championships
- A bronze medal in BUCS Female Cycling Road Race
Officiating, Coaching and Volunteering
Are you interested in sports coaching or officiating? Do you hold appropriate sporting qualifications? Get in touch to see if we have any opportunities available for you by emailing sport@tees.ac.uk
We work with
YesRef to source and pay our sports officials. This is a free to join platform and we would encourage anyone interested in officiating to sign up for opportunities.
Would you like to volunteer your time and develop your skills within sport? We have opportunities for students to get involved through our Sports Leaders Programme. In conjunction with the VolunTees Team, this programme allows students to work with a sports club on their programme and developments, develop a range of skills through the work, gather experience within the sports development sector and take part in a CPD programme to develop themselves.
