The Care Leavers Bursary is available to UK full-time undergraduate students who meet the definition of a care leaver and is a non-repayable bursary of £2,000 for every year a student progresses through the course with us. Eligibility criteria apply.

The bursary is in addition to financial support received from the local authority and any student finance that they are eligible for. Students who have indicated that they are a care leaver on their UCAS form will be contacted directly and invited to apply for the bursary. If the student has not included their status on their UCAS application further details on how to apply can be obtained by emailing studentlife@tees.ac.uk.
We recognise that students with experience of care can face distinct challenges and are committed to providing care experienced students with additional support. The TUCares Team provides tailored services for care experienced students studying with us. These include term-time drop-in sessions, financial advice, and priority access to some support services.
Care experienced students wanting University accommodation may also be able to have a 365 day contract.

Through our partnership with the other four North East universities (NERAP), we have signed the Care Leaver Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to a whole-institution response to supporting care leavers. This means students studying at Teesside will be guaranteed continued support to access, succeed and progress.
