Why Teesside?

It has always been a university that had a great reputation and strong emphasis on forensic science, as this was my area of interest it made sense to apply. Being from Teesside myself, it also proved to be a good location for me.

Best thing about your course?

The practical sessions were useful and enjoyable. The lecturers were supportive and well-versed, which made the sessions fun.

What did you think about the campus and services?

The campus and facilities were advanced, compared to other universities. The teaching staff were very approachable and willing to give their time for general chats or work-related issues.

I used the career progression routes, which I found useful in reaching out to various companies. The support staff were very helpful giving pointers on covering letters, interview techniques and CVs.

What have you done since graduating?

I worked for Rolls-Royce Submarines as a nuclear performance engineer for nine years. I now work as a nuclear defence manager for the Ministry of Defence, where I facilitate the production, design and maintenance of the current and future development of nuclear reactors.

Did your time here help you to achieve or get closer to your goals?

Yes, my postgraduate course led to my role at Rolls-Royce and then my current position at the Ministry of Defence.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Definitely. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, and the campus vibe is conducive to learning and to enjoying university life.
