Although an HND or foundation degree are excellent qualifications to have, you might decide that adding a financial aspect to the qualification is worth another year of study. If you have an HND or foundation degree (or equivalent) in an accounting or finance-related subject, or if you wish to enhance the financial aspects you have covered in a business foundation degree or HND, this course will allow you to convert your qualification into a finance and accounting-related honours degree.

This honours degree combines general management expertise with invaluable knowledge of accounting and finance. The course is aimed specifically at developing financial management skills within a wider business context. Having an excellent understanding of both finance and accounting will give you an advantage in any profession today but particularly in the growing financial services sector.
This module illustrates methods for recording and reporting complex financial transactions, and develops your knowledge and understanding through analysing and interpreting financial information in the form of accounting statements.
It covers the use of techniques to analyse financial risk and performance. The development of accounting standards and external reporting is also discussed.
Ethics, Governance and Accountability
This module examines the role of ethics and good governance in the context of business management. You learn to appraise corporate governance mechanisms, and you consider management risk in the context of the business.
This module examines an economy's financial sector, introducing you to the principal concepts and techniques used in analysing financial markets and financial management. It covers four main areas: financial markets and institutions' operation and development; financial management and aspects of corporate finance; policy towards financial markets, including regulation, the role of central banks and the operation of monetary and exchange rate policy; and the derivatives markets and managing risks.
Undergraduate Business Project
Leading on from the research methods module, the business research project is intended to develop your capacity to undertake a very individual and independent piece of research, albeit with arms length support from a supervisor.
This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate a systematic approach to research, analysis and evaluation within a structured project framework, including project outcome evaluation and reflection on your personal development.
Undergraduate Business Research Methods Top-up
This module seeks to develop your skills in research methods applicable to business and related areas. It focuses on qualitative and quantitative research methods, and will prepare you for the Undergraduate Business Project module.
