Jack made sure he tried all aspects of journalism throughout the course.
I work as a social media executive at LADbible group, writing articles and interviewing some of the biggest names in sport.
I chose to study at Teesside after visiting an open day. It was a great experience and I could immediately sense the positive vibe around campus. Plus I didn't want to leave the North East so it seemed like the best fit.
The course gave me the necessary skills to go out into the real world and apply for a range of different jobs. And everyone was so welcoming – the fact that one of my classmates is now a best friend is just another positive about the course and the University in general.
I made sure to try all aspects of journalism throughout the course; broadcast, online and print. In the first year I undertook a two week placement on the BBC Kick Off Trainee Sports Reporter Scheme at Radio Cumbria. In second year I spent a week at The Whitehaven News to try my hand at print. And then in my third and final year I spent a week at LADbible Group, who eventually decided to take me on full time after a successful week writing features and news stories.
The Students’ Union had a good range of activities and events which was a great way to meet new people. From KAPOW on a Monday night to Dirty Disco on a Friday, there was always something going on, and the drinks were cheap too!
I also played futsal, football and five-a-side in my spare time.
I stayed in University accommodation throughout my three years. It was great fun, especially in the first year.
