Parking on campus

Car parking on our Middlesbrough and Darlington campuses is limited and there is currently a long waiting list, so a parking space on campus is not guaranteed. As our main campus is located in Middlesbrough town centre, there are other nearby parking options. You may need to make arrangements to park in the local pay and display car parks. Please see below for more information or email carparking@tees.ac.uk to discuss accessible parking and other parking options.

Travelling to Teesside University

Getting to the University can be done in a couple of ways and the University actively supports staff on the use of buses, trains, and cycling via number of staff benefit schemes. Middlesbrough Bus Station and Middlesbrough Train Station are less than one mile from Teesside University and have services running regularly. Facilities on campus for cyclists include cycle racks, lockers, repair stations and showers. More information on travelling to Teesside University campuses can be found below.

  • You can also travel to the Teesside area by air with the closest airport being Teesside International Airport, located 13 miles away from the University. Teesside Airport has scheduled flights to and from other UK and European airports, including Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, a major hub for international flights. Newcastle Airport is also less than 50 miles from Teesside University and has scheduled flights to Amsterdam, Paris, London Heathrow, and Dubai.

Driving in the UK

The UK has a left-hand driving system. You should familiarise yourself with the UK driving regulations and laws which will differ from your home country.
Check that your licence allows you to drive in the UK

Driving in the UK can be costly. You need to consider the cost of a new or second-hand car, insurance, car tax, petrol or diesel and car maintenance. You may bring your vehicle to the UK but need to do so in consideration of guidance on importing vehicles into the UK.
