BSc (Hons) Project Management

I was extremely emotional as my application was very personal and sincere. I was overwhelmed to feel that they had read it and hopefully felt the passion I had put into it.

Why Teesside?

I thought my chance to go to university had long gone. Watching my eldest daughter graduate last year and my other daughter start university last year, really gave me the motivation to go for it. Wanting to complete a degree has always been an ambition of mine and I decided that I wanted to show myself, and my children that is never too late. I chose Teesside as I have read great things about the business school and as it is local to me it meant I could commute.

How did you feel being rewarded your scholarship?

I was extremely emotional as my application was very personal and sincere. I was overwhelmed to feel that they had read it and hopefully felt the passion I had put into it.

Why did you choose your subject?

I have always been interested in business and wanted to pursue this further. I had read up on project management and it seemed the best option for me. The great reputation of the business school also made me excited for the experience.

What do you like most about the course?

I am loving all of my modules and the support from staff is amazing. A portion of learning is online, but this hasn’t been an issue. All course information is easy to access, and you can contact module leaders if you have any issues. The lecturers have been a massive help, they are always available if you have any questions.

What do you think about the campus?

The library is great, being able to loan books is extremely useful, especially with some of my lecturers taking place online.

Have you worked on your professional development?

I am working with two mentors who are both project managers at a large local company. I am hopeful that in the new year I will be able to secure a placement. Getting experience in a workplace is extremely valuable as It gives me the opportunity to apply what I have learned.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I would like to secure a project management role, I am still undecided as to which sector I would like to work in. The course is structured in a way that allows you to pursue a range of roles once you graduate as the content you learn can be applied to a variety of sectors.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Absolutely! The university offers a great range of facilities and the support from the staff has been fantastic. Teesside University has a lot to offer, a wide range of subjects to choose from and a great campus. The staff are extremely supportive, and I can most definitely recommend the Business School.
