Research degrees

A postgraduate research degree is the highest degree awarded by a university and is based on a supported programme of independent study. You will contribute to a body of knowledge by carrying out your own research.

Studying for a research degree is an opportunity to explore a subject that excites you. It also helps develop your confidence and a wide range of skills applicable to academia, industry, the public and third sectors.

Postgraduate research students are a vital part of our research community at Teesside University. You will be supported by a team of supervisors, who will guide you through the process of developing, carrying out and writing up your research project.

We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive campus and to supporting all members of our university community to thrive.
