Why Teesside?

Having completed a foundation degree in forensic science I wanted to expand my knowledge even further. After speaking with a range of forensic practitioners, they all suggested that Teesside combined both theoretical and practical aspects of forensic science – allowing you to get an insight into what the true life of a forensic scientist is like.

Best thing about the course?

There is such a broad range of subjects studied throughout the course, all of which had different practical elements to complement the theory. My main interest is the chemical aspect of the course. The ability to work with the analytical instruments and alongside a supervisor massively helps you develop the skills needed for future studies and employment.

How are the facilities?

The facilities are fantastic, the library is one of the best I have ever been in – seriously. There are so many different types of study areas so you can choose the place that best suits you. There is a silent study floor, group work areas and more. The range of IT equipment available is great also as the library provide laptops if you prefer to work on them rather than a computer.

How was studying in Middlesbrough?

There is a range of activities to do in the local area that can really advance you both as a person and academically. It is a perfect location to develop as a young professional – particularly as there are so many towns and cities close by which are in commuting distance.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Absolutely – the forensic science course is delivered by both academics and previous forensic practitioners. This provides you with all the tools needed to undertake a career in forensic science. The course covers a range of topics and ensures you have a depth of knowledge that prepares you for employment and further study.
