Why music production at Teesside?

I have loved music since I was young. When I saw that Teesside had a music course, I decided to go to an open day and have a look. I was amazed at how friendly people were. I went on a tour of the University and I knew when I stepped inside the music studio that it was for me.

What do you like most about your course?

My tutors’ wisdom and the way they share their knowledge about music with me makes every module more enjoyable.

What do you think about the campus?

Everything around campus is amazing. It’s a wonderful place to study, socialise with friends and even just eat lunch between your lectures. The Library has hundreds of books and eBooks. There are also computers for students to use. Each floor has a different noise level, including a silent level. Staff members at the Library and Students’ Union are also mega friendly, so these are nice environments to relax and study.

Tell us about any work experience you’ve had.

I have had some amazing work experience at the Barnsley Youth Choir. This has involved sound setup, starting from the position of the microphone stands to the live mixing of the choir's performance. Once I’ve got it all set up and the concert has finished, I start with the dismounting of the sound system.

How has Teesside helped you develop?

I can now make a complete song from start to finish, including writing, composing, mixing, mastering, releasing and promoting.

What are your ambitions for the future?

The sky is the limit. Hopefully, I will make something in this music industry that people will remember.
